Arunachal Pradesh · Nagaland · Northeast India

Every tree on the hillside, counted and provable.

Field teams map smallholder plots offline and measure trees in random sample boxes. Satellites check every plot every five days. Verifiers get a sealed audit bundle they can re-check file by file.

How it works

From village consent to verifier, in one chain of evidence.

Each step leaves a record the next step depends on, so nothing reaches a registry without its consent, boundary and measurements attached.

  1. Consent

The village council’s FPIC resolution is photographed and dated before anyone is enrolled.

  2. Enrol

Farmers keep their land. Tenure proof and a signed benefit-sharing agreement are captured on the phone.

  3. Map

Boundaries are walked with averaged GPS, even under canopy. Overlaps above 1% are refused.

  4. Measure

Random 10 m boxes inside each plot. DBH, height and species for every tree, tagged with QR.

  5. Monitor & verify

Satellite checks every five days, then a sealed bundle for the verifier.

Audit trail

Built so a verifier can check it, not just trust it.

Live-camera evidence

Photos come only from the camera, stamped with time and GPS and hashed with SHA-256 the moment they are taken.

Re-drawable sampling

Sample boxes are placed by a generator seeded with the plot id, so an auditor can re-create exactly the same boxes.

One carbon formula

Chave et al. (2014) allometry runs identically on the phone and in the database, so field and registry figures agree.

Sees through the monsoon

Sentinel-2 vegetation index plus Sentinel-1 radar, which reads canopy through cloud, with fire alerts from NASA FIRMS.

Sealed audit bundle

Boundaries, trees, photos, satellite series and payouts in one ZIP with a SHA-256 manifest of every file.

Works with no signal

Everything is recorded offline on a budget Android phone and synced when the team is back in range.

Carbon pathways

Each land type has a registry pathway.

Plan Vivo
Zone A · community forest

Community forest protection, the standard behind Northeast India’s first community forest carbon project in the Khasi Hills.

Verra VM0047
Zones B & C · farm trees

Trees on agroforestry, shade-spice and timber plots, measured by census and sample boxes.

Global Artisan C-Sink
Biochar

Biochar from crop residue, with Puro.earth as the alternative route.

These are the app’s default pathways. Each project is confirmed with its registry before listing.

Farmers first, by design.

  • Land is enrolled, never acquired. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
  • Payouts for shade spices (cardamom, pepper, coffee, turmeric, ginger) go straight to the farmer’s UPI.
  • Every sack is weighed, photographed and QR-tagged, so each payout traces back to its harvest.
